Error when saving changed profile corrections in combination with the R5 Mark II

Question

If I make a change in the profile correction, for example adjusting the vignetting, in Lightroom Classic and then save it as a new standard profile for the lens, it is applied to the currently open image but is not finally saved. If I open a new image with the same lens, my newly adjusted profile is not adopted as the default, but rather the basic settings. This only occurs with RAW files from the R5 Mark II. With the old R5 this is saved cleanly.

Saving Lens Profile Defaults doesn't work for camera/lens combinations which provide embedded lens profiles that the manufacturer allows to be disabled (and which appear as Camera Settings in Lens Corrections).

If the product team intends that saving lens profile defaults shouldn't work with embedded profiles, then LR should grey out the menu command Setup: Save New Lens Profile Defaults, rather than silently failing. (Surely a product manager didn't intend for LR to silently fail.)

Using samples downloaded from dpreview.com, I've tested the Canon EOS R5 Mark II / RF100-300mm F2.8 L IS USM, the OM Digital Solutions OM-1 / Olympus M.12-100mm F4.0, and the Nikon Z 9 / Nikkor Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S, in LR 13.5.1 / Mac OS 14.6.1.

1. Download and import these two Nikon Z 9 / Nikkor Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S raws from dpreview.com:

2. Edit the first raw and in Lens Corrections, set Distortion = 129, Vignetting = 149, and click Setup: Save New Lens Profile Defaults.

3. Edit the second raw and in Lens Corrections, change Setup to Default (if it's not already). Observe that Distortion and Vignetting are 100 (incorrect).

4. Click Reset and observe that Distortion and Vignetting are 100 (incorrect).

5. Change Vignetting to 50, then Setup: Default. Observe that Distortion and Vignetting are 100 (incorrect).

6. Go back to the first raw and set Distortion = 50 and Vignetting = 50. Observe that Setup = Custom (correct).

7. Click Reset and observe that Distortion = 129 and Vignetting = 149 (correct).
