Existing stacks not shown in collections

Explorer ,
Aug 17, 2024 Aug 17, 2024

I added around 1300 pictures to quick collection. These pictures also contained stacked pictures.
Saving quick collection to a "regular" collection the stacks are not shown in this new collection.

When going to orgin folder in library the stack is shown.

If you want the rest of the stack to appear in the quick collection, you have to expand the stack first and then select all photos in the stack, and then all photos in the stack will appear in the quick collection (but not as a stack).

Normally, when you have a stack and it is collapsed so only single photo shows, and then select that single photo, any actions you perform are on the single photo, not on the stack.

Ok, it seems that this is a regular behaviour. Though it's not really satisfiying...
What is the reason to break stacks when putting pictures in collections?

According to the documentation:

Stacks are specific to the folder or collection in which they were created. The photos in a stack must all be from the same folder or the same collection; you cannot create stacks while in a smart collection or a published collection.

Images seen within a collection - including Quick Collection - can be stacked together (or not) on an independent basis, completely separately from any stacking going on in their respective folders.

Two images happening  to come from the same folder can be stacked together in the context of that collection with a third image, coming from a different folder. Or, say,, you may have two images that are stacked within their folder, but only one of those is added to the Collection. Thus, stacking within the collection is logically and practically distinct from any stacking within the folder. And the same applies to custom sort also.

In other words: we may make multiple collections relating to some of the same photos (alongside varying other photos as well) because we have a different usage purpose in mind for each collection; and that purpose will duly govern any stacking, any custom sorting, as well as the selective inclusion of different members in the first place.
