Exporting photo's

I get a "Unknown error" when I export a photo in LRC (latetest version).  When I don't give preferences in the format of the picture there is no problem but the file is much too big then. Can I solve this problem? How ?

Nothing to do with your problem, but an oddity to mention.

 

Why is your working catalog in a subfolder named Backups. Is that folder where you keep your backups?

 

Backups should not be on the same drive as the original files

If you need to recover a catalog backup, it should be copy'd from the backup location to the working location, then unzipped. 

 

Your catalog location shown above gives me cause to think your backup strategy is poor, and will lead to problems.

Hi there,

Thanks for warning me. The path as described was done while I installed LR I suppose. I tried to make another location but I didn’t succed. How can I make an save location for my LR-backup?

The catalog backup should go in any folder on any disk that you have write access to (and enough space on the disk). Strongly advised that the backup is not on the same disk as the working catalog. You can create any folder you want and put the backups in there. You can tell LrC to put the backups in this folder via the backup dialog box (see here) option next to "Backup Folder".

That would be v456.72, and that would be very out of date, very old. Three years two months old.

 

Adobe lists old GPU drivers as a serious problem in their trouble support documents. 

 

Your error message is classic GPU related.

 

At the NVIDIA driver web page, the current driver is v546.0, released two days ago.

 

You should have a NVIDIA app on your computer called GeForce Experience, use it to check for and update that driver. When you update the driver, select Custom for install type as to force a clean install. Also, select the Studio Driver. Studio drivers are more suitable to creative work, they are better tested as opposed to Game Ready drivers that are for Gamers.

 

DO NOT trust Microsoft updates for GPU drivers.

Hi there,

You advised me about a message I got "unknown error" when I exported a photo in LRC. You told me to get a update of the NVidia-driver. I did and it seems that the problem is solved. I am nog sure because I used LRC not very much till now. Thank you so far.
But LRC on my laptop gives sometimes the same message when I want to export a photo. There is no NVidia on my laptop (I think) so I can't do the same "trick".
I send you the systeminformation. Hopefully you can help me.

Please post your System Information as Lightroom Classic (LrC) reports it. In LrC click on Help, then System Info, then Copy. Paste that information into a reply. Please present all information from first line down to and including Plug-in Info. Info after Plug-in info can be cut out as that is just so much dead space to us non-Techs and it takes up vast amounts of scroll space making the reply less readable and less likely that others will bother with your post.
