Question

File location different Explorer/LRC

Hello, I normally copy my files using Windows FIle Explorer from the SD card to the hard drive, specifically the 😧 partition that I have only for data. I create my file structure in Explorer. Then I open LightRoom Classic and Import the whole folder. Once that is over, LRC shows me the files on the main C: drive under OneDrive without the file structure and shows nothing on D:. The files are truly in both places, as Explorer confirms. Synchronizing does not fix the problem. When I try to move files within LRC, some are moved, some are not, a mess. I do not understand what I am doing wrong, thanks for any help.

Alex

Check your One Drive sync options (that is in One Drive, not in LrC) Turn off they offending sync.

New to One Drive annoyances, as I am new to Windows 11, and MS Account/Hello use (brand new workstation) So not completely savvy on One Drive, but I did see that it was annoying me, syncing files to the cloud that I most assuredly do not want on the cloud.

Looking at issues posted in this community, One Drive can utterly FRAC  LrC.

Thank you all for the responses. I deleted OneDrive, which helped, then used ADD instead of COPY, which also helped. A third thing was to uncheck "Don't import suspected duplicates", when it does not seem to recognize existing files.

Great to have this community!

Thank you, agreed, but they were not importing otherwise.

That's because they are already imported into LrC. You need to find where they are in the LrC Library module, and then you can use these photos, instead of importing them again. Importing a second time just causes confusion when now you have two copies of a photo with different edits and different user-provided metadata.

Most likely you have chosen to import using the COPY option. If you import using ADD, the photos stay on the D drive.

Lightroom Classic is not a file browser like Windows Explorer. It doesn't know and doesn't care what Windows Explorer sees, it only knows about the photos that you have imported. It doesn't have to match what you see in Windows Explorer.
