Question

File naming during Lightroom Classic Tethered Capture

When using tethered capture in Lightroom, some images are being numbered with a suffix i.e. 005-2, how can I stop this? There is no loss of images.

Thanks

Hank

My suggestion-

Instead of using {Sequence} in the File-Naming, use {File Number Suffix}.

This would then use the Camera File Number that would never conflict (until you exceed 9999 images!)

It seems that {Sequence} is always restarting from -01, and your second set of images (taken about 6 minutes after the first) is resulting in the '-2' files.  I also suspect that the Tether is re-connecting to restart the {Sequence}for an unknown reason.

Regards. My System: Windows-11, Lightroom-Classic 15.1.1, Photoshop 27.3.1, ACR 18.1.1, Lightroom 9.0, Lr-iOS 10.4.0, Bridge 16.0.2 .

Hi there,

Would you mind checking if there are other images in the folder with the same name already to which Lightroom is saving the images from the tethered shoot? If yes, then the second image with the same name would automatically get the suffix -2.

You can check the settings you can use for naming the images during a tethered shoot in the link below.

Nikunj,

The images are numbered by Lightroom. I have attached a screenshot showing
how this occurs. As you will see, at times, LR will go back and reuse a
number used a few minutes earlier and then add -XX to show it is unique.

What do I need to do?
