Hover your mouse over the badge and it will tell you, via tooltip, "Embedded Preview", meaning the preview shown is the preview from capture, not rendered by Lightroom.

Thanks Rikk! FYI, I searched the user guide for badge, icon, etc. and could not find it documented. Probably needed a better keyword for my search.
