Question

Having a tough time importing my presets

I got a bunch of presets from my class and I'm finding that it's incredibly tedious to import using Presets->Import Presets.

I've learned that placing the .lrtemplate files in a specific folder will let Lightroom automatically convert and import them upon start.

I've tried every folder associated with presets and nothing will work. Help?

Now this link shows where the presets should be placed. Not sure if lrtemplate files placed here will convert upon LR relaunch.

Nope, just got off my rear end, turned on the PC, downloaded an old style preset, placed it in the folder, nope, had to import.

Thanks. That's rough. There are thousands of presets in this collection, and it takes forever for lightroom to convert them using the standard method.

So is the "Show presets" button in 7.3 tantamount to the "Show All Other Lightroom Presets" button in 8.1?

I put my lrtemplates in that directory and lightroom does nothing new on startup.

I feel like I'm going in circles.

No, not exactly, the show presets folder has been split up into show develop presets, and show all others.

Now in the video (previously provided) https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=mYx899_tNP8  the author mentions that you are stuck importing the old style presets. Mind you it might be possible to import more than one at a time.

In that video, he talks about profiles first (and you want to watch that) and gets to presets.

Now some of that video is a bit dated (show presets folder changed)
