How can I import Capture One setting in Lightroom?

Hi there,

we normally work with Capture One on our shootings.

A new client likes to proceed his work with the data in Lightroom.

Is it possible to import the settings we did in Capture,

so that he doesn't have to do everything again?

Or is there a way to export data from Capture One in a certain way

that Lightroom can read it?

    Thanks for your answer. That might also help us, since I prosume, that it will be our job to transfer the settings manually. I was wondering if there is something similar, like if you edit a movie in premiere, you CAN transfer an editing-list to Final Cut, or open a Quark-XPress-File in Adobe InDesign. Since the original RAW-Files are still the same. Anyway. Thank you!


    It doesn't help you but in fact you can make Lightroom adjustments and read them in CaptureOne. That's because LR can save its adjustment data to industry-standard XMP sidecars and C1 has code which reads and translates LR into C1 adjustments. It's not perfect, but better than nothing. C1 doesn't save its adjustment settings into XMP or anything industry-standard, so Adobe can't do the same, even if they wanted to do so.

    No it is not . At least not directly. Like above the only way to get whatever changes, edits, you made in C1 into LR is to save/export those image files as TIFF and then import into LR.

    But "IF" your client likes to work in LR then why would he want and why would you want him to have any of the edits you did in C1.

    C1 doesn't read LR edits and LR doesn't read C1 edits.

    The background for my question is, that it was two shootingdays with models in the woods. Tons of data, permanent changing light-situations. The client needs the complete amount of data for future projects, so there is no small selection. So we made a overall-developement, so that he can see all the pictures in a quite similar quality. But since he is only used to work in Lightroom, he asked us, if he can start on top of our settings.

    Yes, he can start on top of your settings if you export a TIF from Capture One, and then import that TIF into LR.

    But the setting themselves (for example Exposure +0.25) from Capture One aren't going to transfer, the effect of the settings on the image (the pixels actually are changed to reflect the exposure +0.25) will transfer via the TIF.

    If you want any other transfer of settings, it can't be done.

    Export from Capture One as a TIF, import the TIF into Lightroom.

    Sorry, that was a missunderstanding: The client likes to continue the work with the RAW-Files.

    We developed the whole shooting as jpegs, so we already did some settings in Capture, but he has

    to optimize everything for his workflow and wants just to see, which settings we did,

    so that he has only to adjust it once in a while.

    If I develope tiffs and import them in LR, the look will be the same, but the adjustments are not visible

    or rejectable.

    As stated above C1 edits don't translate into LR edits and the reverse.

    2 totally different programs and 2 totally different ways to store and display edits made to a photo file.
