Question

How do I publish a large Lightroom collection to Flickr?

When I try to publish a collection with more than a handful of photos, I repeatedly getting the error:

"Can't update this collection: Could not determine Flickr URL for photo" from Lightroom.

A screenshot is here: Dropbox - Screenshot 2017-08-20 11.21.17.png

If I hit the "Publish" button, it manages to upload another photo or two, and then stops again. Very frustrating.

System details: macOS Sierra 10.12.16 on a late-2013 15-inch Retina Macbook Pro wtih 16Gb RAM.

Software details: Lightroom 2015.12 (from an Adobe CC subscription; the Adobe Updater says it is up-to-date as of 2017-08-20).

Not sure if this makes any difference but I have a (paid-for) Flickr Pro account.

It is quite obvious to me that besides problems with Lr independant from flickr, I find that flickr is quite sluggish and buggy.

I'm getting the same error and managed to narrow down the problem to publishing collections that contain videos (for each video I get the error dialog and have to hit publish again). I'm in conversation with Adobe support hoping they can figure out something.

... unless the problem is at Flickr, in which case Adobe won't be able to help ...

Simple endorsement of used the Friedl FlickR plug-in for a long time. It is not a publishing plug-in as such but works with export. Part of the reason why it is much more robust and powerful than the internal lightroom 'publish to FlickR' which proved unreliable the only times I tried to use it.

It is not a publishing plug-in as such...

The Friedl Flickr plugin is indeed a publishing plugin: Jeffrey Friedl's Blog » “Publish” in Jeffrey’s Export-to-Flickr Lightroom Plugin

I stand corrected. However I can't say that I have ever used it in the publish services in Library. I call it up as an export action, so my publish service shows no history or links under jf FlickR.

Most likely, this is a problem at Flickr, and if you wait a few hours, it will go away.

Sorry, I should have made it clear that this is a recurrent problem which I have been experiencing for many months. It doesn't seem to make any difference if I use wifi or a wired ethernet connection, and it occurs when accessing the internet from a variety of places so it isn't due to my home internet connection.

The Reply By dj_paige didn't say anything about your internet connection. He stated it is more than likely some type of Flickr problem.

Have you posted on their forums about this problem?
