how do you turn off lens corrections?

I can't seem to figure out why some imports include lens corrections while others don't.  I have lens corrections set in-camera (sony a7riii) and don't want LR to add lens corrections automatically on import. Anybody know how to set these to off as a preference item?  Thanks

You're probably getting a little beyond what I understand you are wanting to do. What I "think" You want to do is disable automatic lens corrections for your camera. What I would do is on the newly imported image from the camera is go to the lens correction section and uncheck the lens corrections and then simply save new camera defaults. This shouldn't have anything to do with the serial number option unless you have another model of the same camera on which you don't want to change that setting. I think the reason the set up darkens is because you have chosen to disable it. Isn't that what you wanted? Then you will have to enable it in order to use those controls should you decide to do that on a specific image.

Hi Jim.  Apologies for sounding really dumb here but How do I 'simply save the new camera defaults'?  After I uncheck the lens corrections 'setup' (right underneath it) goes dark.  Where do i 'save' new defaults either in a window or in a drop down menu?  Thanks very much!

If the lens correction is the only thing that you don't want included automatically, highlight a newly imported image that has not been edited in any way and uncheck lens corrections. Then save new camera defaults. That should take care of it I would think.

Hi Jim.  Thanks.  I sort of understand what you are saying but not how to implement. I open a photo which has been imported but no editing done.  I see that under lens corrections, profile, 'enable profile corrections' is already checked and 'setup' is bright and I can select Default or Auto or Custom or Save New Lens Profile Defaults.  However once i uncheck Enable Profile Corrections then Setup goes dark and I can't choose anything?  Could you elaborate a little further please.  Do i need to go into Lightroom, Preferences, Presets where under Default Develop Settings there is a box checked 'Make defaults specific to camera serial number' (and perhaps uncheck that?) as well as a button 'Reset all default Develop settings'?

Jim I just figured it out!  (I think)

hold 'option' key while hovering over 'reset' (bottom right) which becomes set as new default..enter!  Hopefully that works!
