In the video instructions “work with lightroom CC on multiple computers” they gave the impression that images on my main PC also will also be accessible on my second pc.
However, in the comment on the faq’s about synchronization in Lightroom Classic, they mention that only images that are part of a collection are visible and editable on different computers… ?
My question is: can I access and edit the images that are stored in my NAS drive om my 2 different computers even when they are not part of a collection? And if that is possible, how should I synchronize these images in lightroom classic?

So you seem to be confusing Lightroom CC (which doesn't exist, there is no software by that name) with Lightroom Classic. Perhaps you are reading about Lightroom (not Classic) which does allow you to access and edit your photos on multiple computers, since the photos are stored in the Adobe cloud.
If you really want to access your photos on multiple computers using Lightroom Classic, then please know that you cannot sync two computers with Lightroom Classic.
For Lightroom Classic, putting the photos on the NAS will allow you to access them from any computer on the NAS, after you transfer the Lightroom Classic catalog file to the computer you want to use — catalog files cannot be on the NAS, that's why you must transfer the file, every time you want to shift to a different computer.

Yes, that will work. I will work best if the external drive is very fast and the connection to the computer is also very fast.
It will not work if the catalog is on a Network Attached Storage (NAS).
In answer to the question in your original post: Yes, you have to have Lightroom Classic images in a collection for them to syncronize with all the instances of Lightroom you have installed, I.E. Lightroom on desktop, iPhone, iPad, etc.
Each collection must have the box at the left end of the collection list checked for sync to happen.
