How to turn off Sound Effects in Lightroom

No one asked for sound effects in Lightroom. They are jarring and distracting, no benifit for them while I am editing.

Has anyone been able to turn them off without going into my computer settings?

That "swoosh" sound when deleting a heal or remove mark/point is infuriating!

Please, devopers, we love metaphorical "bells and whistles" but we DO NOT want LITERAL bells and whistels going off while we are focued on editing.

So the only way to turn off SFX in LRC is to do it in your computer settings. I hope one day we are able to do this from preferences, or even better have all SFX muted by default and have the option for rediculous sound effects if you ant ( i dont beleive many people want SFX while editing but there may be some)

Here is the only way as of Jan 2025 to disable SFX while you are editing.

Mute Lightroom Classic Specifically (Mac & Windows)

  • Mac:

    • Open System SettingsSoundApplications.
    • Locate Lightroom Classic and set the volume to 0.
  • Windows:

    • Open Volume Mixer (right-click on the speaker icon in the taskbar).
    • Find Lightroom Classic and mute it.

(I consider this a work-around and not a "Correct Answer")

Adobe rep please come and tell us there is a way to disable annoying and distracting sound effects while we work. We just want to work without distractions. No one asked for photo editing softwear to have SFX. Its not a smart idea. Please dont force SFX on us. Take pity on us Adobe gods

I'm on Windows, and my copy of LrC never makes any sounds, except when clicking outside an open dialog.

@C.Cella Are you you using a Mac and experiencing the same thing as David?

HI @David352642610tdy,

You taught me something new today! I never noticed these before since they’ve apparently been off by default for me.

Try this: Go to Lightroom > Preferences > General > Completion Sounds and set it to "No Sound".

Let me know if that helps! 😊

Negative Ghost Rider, I have all of those already off.

These Adobe clowns are forcing SFX on us while we edit.

I swear I get more and more sick of all the Adobe apps with every update.

I'm this close to finding an old copy of CS6 and terminating all subscriptions.
