How to update Lightroom 6 without going to 7?
This morning the Adobe updater offered me an "update" to my standalone Lightroom 6.12. In the process, it said that the name was changing to Lightroom Classic CC.
Stupidly, I accepted it and failed to preserve the old version. And now I'm screwed. I have NO interest in moving to the pay-as-you-go licensing model, I just want to continue to use the software that I bought and paid for.
No problem, I thought - I'll just uninstall Classic CC and reinstall good old Lightroom 6. So I ran the LR6 installer, but despite being called "Lightroom_6_LS11.exe", it only installed 6.0, which does not recognize the newer NEF files from my Nikon D500. It'll open all the shots I have from my earlier cameras, but not the D500 (or any other recent camera that requires a later version of Camera Raw than the 9.0 that's included in LR 6.0).
OK, no problem, I thought - I'll just update it back to 6.12 where it was before all this started. LOL, no, the only update that the CC update tool is offering, is LR Classic CC.
Arrrrgh! I have a big shoot coming up this weekend, and I'm now stuck with no way to process my new photos with the fully-paid software that was working perfectly until I was hijacked by the new update. I just got off a chat session with Adobe support, who basically told me they couldn't help me and I needed to come here, where an Adobe expert would be able to help.
So here I am. Can somebody please tell me how I go about updating LR 6 back to 6.12 where I started the day, without migrating to LR7?
Thanks!
