How to update Lightroom 6 without going to 7?

This morning the Adobe updater offered me an "update" to my standalone Lightroom 6.12. In the process, it said that the name was changing to Lightroom Classic CC.

Stupidly, I accepted it and failed to preserve the old version.  And now I'm screwed.  I have NO interest in moving to the pay-as-you-go licensing model, I just want to continue to use the software that I bought and paid for.

No problem, I thought - I'll just uninstall Classic CC and reinstall good old Lightroom 6.  So I ran the LR6 installer, but despite being called "Lightroom_6_LS11.exe", it only installed 6.0, which does not recognize the newer NEF files from my Nikon D500. It'll open all the shots I have from my earlier cameras, but not the D500 (or any other recent camera that requires a later version of Camera Raw than the 9.0 that's included in LR 6.0).

OK, no problem, I thought - I'll just update it back to 6.12 where it was before all this started.  LOL, no, the only update that the CC update tool is offering, is LR Classic CC.

Arrrrgh!  I have a big shoot coming up this weekend, and I'm now stuck with no way to process my new photos with the fully-paid software that was working perfectly until I was hijacked by the new update.  I just got off a chat session with Adobe support, who basically told me they couldn't help me and I needed to come here, where an Adobe expert would be able to help.

So here I am.  Can somebody please tell me how I go about updating LR 6 back to 6.12 where I started the day, without migrating to LR7?

Thanks!

Not only do Adobe go back on their "indefinelty" promise for a standalone Lightroom, they are also employing somewhat foul tactics to us users in that the Creative Cloud app now prompts and "Upgrade" to Lightroom, hiding the LR2015 under a tab button fooling most people to push upgrade and inadvertenty join the CC subscription plan.

Seriously Adobe, are you THAT broke?

Fortunately I smelled the rat and didnt push the upgrade button until after I did some googling on the subject.

I've been using LR since 2011, and religiously upgraded every time. If you want more of my money, you should go back to offering us the standalone, even if nerfed (ex: no dehaze).

So I'll use the old LR until I get me some new unsupported camera in the future. At that point, I'm jumping ship.

This was shown multiple times above but it seems people are still having issues finding the download page:

    Download Photoshop Lightroom

Make sure you download botht he 6.0 installer and then the latest patch to 6.12 or later.

Same issue for me. I tought it was a free update, as usual. I wonder what happens when 7 trial days will expire. I hope i'll get my original lightroom 6 installation running. What a disappointment from Adobe...

I am in the same boat. I do NOT want to subscribe as I do not use it enough and I simply do not like subscription models. The only benefit is recurring revenue for Adobe - WTF. The installer tricked my into installing Lightroom Classic CC so I just got rid of it and installing the old 6.12 back on my computer. I am glad I kept my catalog files safe...

Don't apologize to Adobe, they did not do their work correctly. I'm angry at them because the manager made me believe I was eligible to a free upgrade for lightroom 6, only to block me afterward. So I waste 1 hour of my time because of them.

And now I'm stuck in 6.11 because the 6.12 Mac offline patch won't install without telling me why.

Perfect!  I swear those Updates weren't available earlier.  Or maybe I'm just going blind in my old age.  Thanks for pointing them out.

Did this fix your issue? I can't even install Lightroom 6 on my computer again, it keeps giving me errors. This is maddening!

Launch Creative Cloud and go to the apps tab.

Scroll down to Lightroom Classic and click the pull down menu to the right of “Open”

    Choose LR6 from previous versions.

The next update will be LR6.13 expected by 26 October.

I don't see that option.  To reiterate, when I accepted the update to Classic CC, I missed the option to retain the old version.  subsequently, I uninstalled Classic CC, and reinstalled LR6.

Here's what I see under Installed Apps:

The drop-down arrow alongside Lightroom Classic CC offers me the extra choices of "Buy Now", "Learn More", and "View tutorials".

The drop-down arrow alongside Lightroom CC (2015) offers me "View tutorials" and "Uninstall".
