Images Disappearing On Import

Good morning

Having imported many folders of images into Lightroom via 'add' (images and catalogue on external hard drive) I can't seem to import any more. They show up in the main pain but then disappear before my eyes almost as soon as they appear - I can even see the numbers at the bottom of the screen go up, and then back down again. I've searched the internet for an answer and even tried a suggestion by a contributor to this discussion board to try 'copy' then open  the 'Destination' box on the right and then revert to 'add', but nothing is showing.

Any ideas?

Thank you 🙂

I know this is super old but I just had this problem and found a temporary solution which hopefully OP had an answer but for someone new finding it.  On the import screen, when I'm in the folder that is "hiding" the files I want to keep, on the right hand side is a drop down called "File Handling", expand that and uncheck "Don't import suspected duplicates".  I was shooting a high FPS sports game so maybe Adobe didnt like the close time stamps? I'm not sure.  But I was able to properly import all my pictures.

I will throw in an idea-

In your last set of screen-clips:  In the first clip I see all your imported folders in a  D500 parent folder- What do you see when you scroll down further- below the last folder shown {16th......} ?

Is it possible you have already imported ALL the files in the {Probably.....} folder already?

Your import screen might be removing them from the 'Add' dialog as it (slowly) determines that the photos in this particular folder are already in the Catalog.

Thank you

As you can see - the file that I was trying to import. I've tried smaller files since and tried putting them in slightly different parts of the 'tree', as it were, but all with the same result.

Please click on COPY (yes, I know you want to ADD, but click on COPY anyway).

Then expand the Destination Panel, make sure it points to a destination folder that actually exists (if it doesn't choose a folder that actually exists).

Then click back on ADD

Can you show us a screen capture or video of this?

I have a video - it won't load here. I'll have to get some stills later (I'm at work right now).

Thank you for your prompt response. 🙂
