images import into LR really slow

Hi 

I am using a MAC Book Pro Max with and M1 chip.

I am running the latest version of Sonoma 14.2.1

My LR is 13.1

I am importing 400 new images, I am not doing anything different to the normal process but the images are importing realy slowly and I mean really slowly. 

I use a Nikon D850 so I am importing from the camera into LR

What could be the cause, any ideas?

I have tried it on my external drive and internal drive and its the same on both.
