IMPORTING NEF FILES TO LIGHTROOM 4.1

Hello All

Need some help importing .nef files from my windows 10 computer to lightroom 4.1.  I've just upgraded my computer and reloaded Lightroom from the original disc and entered serial number etc.  Unfortunately can't upgrade to 4.4 as there is no downloads from Adobe anymore. (if anyone can tell me where to upload the upgrade from it would be appreciated)

The program only imports jpegs.  On my old computer which was also a windows 10 had no issues, and I imported my .nef files and worked on the photos without any problems.  Am I missing something?

I would appreciate your help

cheers

peter

The reason that you can only import jpgs is probably that your camera is not supported by LR 4.1, but apparently was supported in LR 4.4.
Adobe has made it increasingly difficult to download old software, and I don't think it's possible to download LR 4 anymore.

A workaround is to download and install the free Adobe DNG converter, which will convert copies of your NEF files to DNG files, which you can then import in LR 4. Set Compatibility to Camera Raw 7.1 and later in the preferences.

Also, read the instructions on the page I linked to carefully.

@Peter Chater, I believe you should be able to download the latest update for Lightroom 4 from the link below.

Hi again

Found this great tutorial by Anthony Turnham where he shows how to  convert Nikon NEF files to dng files using the "Adobe Digital Converter" which then allowed me to import the photos into Lightroom 4.1.

Why has LR programme stopped recognising NEF files, which it did, on my old Windows 10 computer to my new Windows 10 computer when all I've done is reloaded the programme?

cheers peter
