Importing OM-1 High Resolution Images into Lightroom

The Olympus (OM Systems) OM-1 creates an .ORI file for its high reolution shots. It seems that Lightroom does not recognize this format. Short of opening the file in another program and comverting it to a TIF or DNG is there any way to import this RAW file?

If not, perhaps Adobe can add this file type to its next update.

Correct answer Ian Lyons

This link may help explain what .ORI files are and how to open them in LrC https://community.adobe.com/t5/camera-raw-discussions/olympus-ori-raw-files/td-p/11414138

Edit: forgot to include this explanation:

ORI file is a "normal" RAW file, but with a different extension to differentiate it from the high-resolution RAW file. The ORI is a 16mp version of your shot and corresponds to the first of the 8 frames the camera merges in the high res picture.

I had to change the in-camera setting for high resolution images from 12 bit to 14 bit. After I did that, I was successfully able to transfer all high resolution images into Lightroom. On the OM-1 mark II, this setting can be found under the purple camera 2 menu. Look for "High Res Shot" then "RAW Rescording Bit". The high-res images still import into LR as ORF files

I'm amazed that Lr does not import ORI files.  The obvious use case is if the HiRes shot (ORF) has failed for some reason, you can use the ORI.  So for a start, comparing ORI & ORF side by side is routine.

CaptureOne can read ORIs.  DxO can read ORIs.  Lr cannot.   Seems wherever you turn there's a showstopper 😞

Maybe, Adobe has not enough incentive for ORI support. If the user base is thin…

My Annual Subscription should be motive enough.....

(but if not, then you may as well say they have no motive for ORF support).    Also, since ORIs are identical to ORFs, it can hardly be that challenging.

According to this document, there are no .ORI files recognized. By the way, what camera takes these .ORI files?
