Question

Importing photos - file type not showing

I am a complete newbie to Lightroom and am struggling with what is probably a very simple problem.

When I'm importing photos into Lightroom (both .jpg and raw), the thumbnails are not showing if it's a .jpg or a raw photo.  There is no information on the thumbnail picture, just the picture.

Can someone help?

Thanks

Maureen

Your screen-clip is the Library module view (not the Import dialog)- See below for setting information options.

I always see filenames under previews in the Import dialog-

And you can sort by File-type in the Import screen-

In Library Module- Grid View:

Press [Ctrl+J] to define the information on thumbnail 'Expanded Cell' borders-

Filenames also appear in the Metadata panel.

In Loupe view (single image)- Keyboard [i] toggles information on/off. Also set options in the [Ctrl+J] dialog Loupe View Tab.

Regards. My System: Windows-11, Lightroom-Classic 15.1.1, Photoshop 27.3.1, ACR 18.1.1, Lightroom 9.0, Lr-iOS 10.4.0, Bridge 16.0.2 .
