Bonjour,

The catalog may be corrupted, but your screenshot suggests it may be something else. All those green checkmarks on the icons suggest that this folder is synced to some cloud service. Maybe Apple iCloud, maybe something else. Having your catalog in a cloud synced folder is known for creating problems. Move your catalog folder out or disable the sync another way. See if that solves it.

Problems like this are more likely caused by a corrupt catalog or corrupt preferences than a corrupt application, so try this:

1: Move your catalog file out of its folder so Lightroom Classic can't find it. Does Lightroom Classic now start and show a screen that it doesn't know where the catalog is? If you create a (temporary) new catalog does it start completely?

2: Reset the Lightroom Classic preferences. Do so by removing the preferences if holding the key combo doesn't work. https://www.lightroomqueen.com/how-do-i-reset-lightrooms-preferences/

Thank you for your answer!
I was able to reopen Lightroom Classic by moving the catalog out of its folder but I do need the catalog... I need to get back to where I was editing and to get back my presets and everything I've worked on for years. What can I do?

Yes it's synced with pCloud for extra security. Had no idea it could cause problems. I stopped the syncing for this folder and I still cannot open the catalog. I also tried to restart my mac. What can I do to get the catalog back?

Hi @Mahault37341563rk5d, Thank you for reaching out! I'm sorry you're experiencing trouble with Lightroom Classic.

It's good news that Lightroom is working now! Adding to what Johan has suggested, Lightroom automatically prompts you to back up your catalog. If you've been doing this, you have a recent, uncorrupted version ready.

By default, Lightroom Classic saves backed-up catalogs to the following location: /Users/[username]/Pictures/Lightroom/[catalog name]/Backups\

To restore from the backup, please take a look at this Helpx article for steps and more info on How to back up catalogs in Lightroom Classic.

You can also check out this Helpx article for steps and more info on troubleshooting a corrupt catalog.

Let us know how it goes!

Cheers!
