Question

In Develop, with a mask, selecting color of mask has no effect

Mac OS Ventura 13.6, LRC 12.5, M2 MacBook Air

In Develop model, create mask.

On the Show Overlay line: Selecting the color square has no effect, on the three dots, selecting "Color Overlay Settings" has no effect.

Poked around this forum and found suggestion to close LRC and restart with Shift+Option, clearing preferences. The two issues above disappeared and I changed the color of the overlay from red to blue. However, after that, neither option worked again. Closed LRC, restarted with Shift+Option. Closed LRC, restarted computer. Mask was still there, however it is back to red. Neither option works.

Try this: rather than resetting the preferences by using shift/option, locate the preferences file and delete it. Shift/option clears the contents, but does not replace the file. Deleting the preferences does a more thorough job and sometimes that makes the difference. https://www.lightroomqueen.com/lightroom-classic-file-locations/

Johan, thanks for the idea. I closed LRC, deleted "Macintosh HD / Users / Dan / Library / Preferences / com.adobe.LightroomClassicCC7.plist" It did not change the behavior. Really appreciate all suggestions!

Clearing preferences will probably reset the mask overlay back to red regardless as well as re-initialising a lot of other user changes to the working environment. Unrelated to a difficulty cycling the overlay hue (shift+O), or using the colour picker to the same purpose. Maybe try doing so with graphics acceleration disabled, which might help to narrow down on the issue.

Thank you, Richard. In Preferences, Performance, Camera Raw, setting "Use Graphics Processor" to off did not change behavior. Shift + O works perfectly (and I hadn't known about that, so thanks!) Appreciate your time.

@0mx9

Maybe stupid on my part but are you sure opacity is set at above 0

For some reason LrC allows to set Opacity at zero for the overlay and nothing is shown.

(I filed a bug internally for this BTW)

C.Cella, Thank you. The problem I'm having is I cannot see the screen you showed in your reply.

Oh, very weird.

Check the "Opacity" of the Color Overlay you have chosen.

It might be set at ZERO
