Incorrect help article: "HEIC and HEVC media files support in Lightroom and Camera Raw"
This help article says that LR and CR only "support HEIF/.heic files created with iOS and Android devices."
https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-cc/kb/heic-files-support.html
That is out-of-date: LR 12.3 added the ability to import files ending in .hif, and such files are in HEIF format.
There is lots of confusing and incorrect junk on the web about HEIF and HEVC, encouraged by confusing terminology from the standards body, manufacturers, marketers, and Apple in particular. So I encourage the tech writers to confer with the engineering team, reread the standards, and correct the article with precise terminology and a more technically precise description of which HEIF flavors are supported and which aren't.
In particular, do LR and CR now purport to support all HEIF files, or are there some features of HEIF still not supported?
