I have been using Lightroom 5 on an iMac with no problems. I recently upgraded to a Mac Mini and I tried to reload Lightroom 5 from the DVD using a SuperDrive. The installation seemed to go OK, but it never asked for my licensing code. When I open Lightroom 5, the LR welcome screen comes on for a few seconds, then disappears and a very long trouble report is created. Any workarounds? I don't want to pay $10/month for a program I rarely use.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/
p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

Did my post get moved to the Download and Install forum? I don't see it there. Should I just repost it there?

It got moved from there, because that was the wrong forum. Now it is in the correct forum, so do not repost anything.

Which version of MacOS you you use on your Mac Mini?
It is possible the LR 5 isn't compatible with newer version of MacOS.
