Intel i9, HyperThreading and Adobe CC Apps...

Hi all,

I recently built a new rig:

Intel i9 7940X
Aorus Gaming Ultra X299

HyperX Predator 4x8GB Modules

EVERY time LR is run, I get BSOD - I've tried numerous BIOS versions etc etc etc. Literally tried everything, Re-install of Win10, different service pack, different drivers - currently running the most optimal dirvers and every single component driver is up to date. I've overclocked, de-clocked, Manually adjusted voltages for CPU as suggested by some users, reset to optimised defaults, ran MemTest for 24 hours.... you can imagine I've spent weeks.

Sometimes I can use LR for an hour also before BSOD... othertimes I open LR/Adobe and it crashes.

***ONLY SOLUTION SO FAR IS...***

I disabled HT.... and now have no issues.

Does anyone else have BSOD issues when HT is enabled??? I'm now running 14 Cores instead of 28 threads, kinda a pisstake the software does not work with this hardware?

Thanks.

In my computer learnings which have nothing to do with Lightroom, Blue Screen of Death is almost always caused by hardware malfunction or driver problems. I would have said this 10 years ago before Lightroom existed, or even if I had never used Lightroom. Lightroom is not the cause of this.

The fact that sometimes it works for an hour and sometimes it crashes instantly, plus turning off hyperthreading might indicate a heat buildup problem, caused by some malfunction in the cooling system.
