Lightroom was never FREE. You could download and install a Trial version that lasted 30 days until Adobe changed that to only 7 days with newer versions.

So the version of LR that is installed on your computer is either the trial version or at some point you purchased LR 5.

thank you for your response

Hmm its been over 30 days and I have full access to features on my laptop. In fact its been years

I am fairly certain I never purchased it ?

How can I see if I ever purchased it?

I would not download a cracked or pirated copy. I appreciate the efforts of creators and would pay.

No, sir.

Thank you.

Well. Kinda.

I see there are two versions

Lightroom and Lightroom classic

I don't need any of the online storage or collaboration features

Just the full photo editing software

Which to get?

Both of the newer versions are a subscription based system. A cost every month, base is $9.99 US a month.

Basically LR Classic is the same as what you are using now only with new features, newer camera support and speed increases. That is the Photographers plan and also includes Photoshop.

All images and the LR catalog is stored on the hard drives connected to your computer. It also allows you to use LR Mobile on any of your Mobile, Phone/tablet, devices (Apple iOS or Android) and allows you to Sync collections from one catalog in LR Classic to LR Mobile.

LR CC is a Cloud based system where all images are copied and stored on the Adobe servers and are accessible from all devices you have either LR CC installed, desktop or notebook computer running a Real Desktop OS (Limit is 2 computers), and LR Mobile on any and all Mobile devices. Storage limit for the normal fee is 1TB for that same $9.99 a month and does NOT include Photoshop. If you need more storage space it is an additional fee of $9.99 a month for each additional 1TB.

There are many websites and video tutorials listing the differences. Photos In color is one that has a video on it on their You-Tube channel.
