is there a way in LR to select photos which are stacked and update it into a collection?

i have a collection A of photos containing selected photos i want to use for my project

then i have a collection B which is a subset of coll A, which are photos that i wanted to edit in photoshop

LR/photoshop then created stacks for those edited pictures from coll B but apparently this is only applicable for coll B, although i can also see edit version in All Photographs

but my main collection is supposed to be collection A and even if i select the edit TIFF versions one by one and put it into Coll A it seems it doesnt load as stacks same as coll B

i've been reading some articles which say there is no way to select stacked items by filter; does it mean i have to recreate my pic list same as collection A and selecting the updated versions of the pics manually? or is there a workaround for this? basically i just need the edited versions in my collection A

LR's stacking is poorly designed and confusing -- a stack is specific to a folder or a collection, and you can only see the stack while in that folder or collection.  (An exception is that folder stacks are also visible when you select a parent folder or All Photographs as the source.)  The various commands that create stacks are inconsistent -- some create the stack in the current collection or folder only, while other commands create two stacks,  one in the current collection and one in the current folder (but these are separate stacks).

For your use case, I suggest using a different mechanism to mark photos for editing: flags (Photo > Set Flag), color labels (Photo > Set Color Label), or keywords (you can mark the keywords as not "Include On Export" so they're not included in exported pics).  Then you can use the Library Filter bar to filter your main collection A for pics to work on.  These mechanisms have various shortcuts that make working with them efficient and easy.

Adobe's documentation on stacking was never updated after LR 4 changed the stacking design.  Please add your me-too vote to this bug report in the official Adobe feedback forum: Lightroom: Incorrect documentation for stacking | Photoshop Family Customer Community

i guess my other question will be that if i had to still do Edit in Adobe Photoshop, what would be the possible or best approach so that after editing in photoshop, my changes will either be saved on a single file or at least merge or link the connected/stacked files that photoshop will create after the edit, assuming for my purpose for example, that i need only the edited version

The complete workflow would be:

- Use only the main collection (collection A).

- Mark photos in the collection to be edited using flags, color labels, star ratings, or keywords.

- Use the Library Filter bar to filter for just those photos marked for editing.

- To edit, select the photo while in the collection and do Photo > Edit In. The edited copy will be stacked with the original in the collection (and also in the folder containing the two pics).
