Issues with iPhone and Lightroom Classic crashing on macOS High Sierra

Hi all, I am having two big issues with Lightroom and my iPhone:

1) Lightroom oftentimes crashes and shuts down when I plug my iPhone 8 into my MacBook Pro, and/or when I unplug it.

2) When trying to import photos from my iPhone 8, Lightroom says "No photos found" when there are tons of photos on my phone. This is very frustrating, as it only very occasionally works and will find and import the new photos.

I am using High Sierra OS on my MacBook Pro, and had been using Lightroom 6. I just downloaded the 7-day free trial of Lightroom Classic to see if using it would solve my issues, but the same thing is happening.

Please help!

Hi, I'm having what seems to be the same problem (iPhone 8, iOS 13.3 to Lightroom Classic 9.1) but I'm running on Macbook Pro with Mojave. It is indeed extraordinarily frustrating. What is going on Adobe? This used to work. I desperately want a workaround, or else Lightroom Classic is basically useless to me.

I can post my crash reports if that's helpful.

Can you start a new thread for your question? It may not be the same issue.

Include this information in your post. How exactly are you trying to transfer photos from your phone to Classic? Do you receive an error message, if so what is it? If Classic crashes, at what part in the process does it crash? What has changed since it previously worked?

Depending on your iCloud settings, Photos may have uploaded all of your images to iCloud so they don't actually reside on your phone. This may be why Lightroom doesn't see them.

Thank you for the suggestion. I do not use iCloud for photos though. What's strange is that Lightroom occasionally does recognize that there are photos on my phone, but rarely imports them without issue.

This is the type of error I get when photos are recognized but won't import.

If you use Lightroom for your photos on your phone, and turn sync on in Lightroom classic, your photos will automatically transfer. There is no reason to plug your phone into your computer. You will need a creative cloud subscription for this to work though.

Where are the photos on your phone? Are they inside of Lightroom, and are you using the free version? This would explain why your computer can't see the images.

Hi, I do not use Lightroom on my phone. All of my photos are in the Photos app.

I am currently using the 7-day trial and deciding whether to purchase the subscription once it ends, or continue using Lightroom 6.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about Lightroom Classic crashing, could you please try updating Lightroom to version 9.1 via the Creative Cloud Desktop app and let us know if it helps?

Regards,
Sahil
