Hey dear Community,

I am working with LrC 14.1.1 on MAC Pro 15.1.1 and sometimes my keywords of all picture are not anymore shown and it seems always after I have imported new pictures and put keywords to those.

As soon I restart the application everything is fine and all keywords are visble

I've been having this issue on both my desktop and laptop. Both are Macs. I'm running Sequoia 15.5, and LR Classic 14.4 release. Pretty much every time I import new images, I have to restart the app because I lose my keywording as described. I also, for some reason, seem to have lost the ability to have the little I.D. bubbles appear over people's faces when I'm in face mode.

Ok; I figured out the face bubbles thing. That was user error. But the inability to add visible keywords happens every time I add photos. Deleting the helper.lrdata file doesn’t help.

Yes this is something i have noticed after import this year... after a restart it is able to take a click in the keyword box again.

This has started for me (Sonoma 14, MacBook Pro) since the latest update of Adobe Lightroom Classic and with each import.  The files come in fine but the frame for entering Keywords shows in black font"working" and will not accept any new or previously used keywords nor does it display ratings.  No spinning wheel.  Once I restart the program it works as expected.

1. Please do Help > System Info and report the exact version of LR you're running.

2. Try deleting the Helper.lrdata folder:

a) Do Catalog Settings > General > Show to open Finder / File Explorer on the current catalog folder.
b) Exit LR.
c) In that folder, delete the folder "<catalog> Helper.lrdata".
d) Restart LR, and it will rebuild the folder.

The Helper.lrdata folder caches information about metadata, keywords, folders, collections, and other things to speed the performance of LR and it can sometimes get corrupted. In recent versions, LR has used it more heavily to improve the speed of displaying metadata, and there have been a fair number of bugs with it.

I have updated Sequoia 15.2 and once deleted the helper-Irdata and failure did not appear for the moment.

Thxs and a wonderfull sunny week

In addition to screenshots, which would be very helpful, some more diagnostic steps based on reports from some other users:

1. When you don't see the keywords, are the fields in the Metadata panel blank?  Is there is a spinning wheel in the upper-left corner of the Metadata panel?

2 . If yes, try rolling back to LR 14.0.1. Does the issue still occur?

Hey John,

I will come back, because the effect is not always there and I will update my Sequoia app to 15.2

Thxs

I don't think this is related but there is an update for Sequoia to 15.2. Can you be more specific with a screen shot of what you are describing with the keywords being visable and then not showing?
