Library mode does not show edits / Lightroom Classic 9.2

Hi everyone,

I have a problem with the library tab in Lightroom Classic 9.2 on Windows 10:

When editing a photo in develop mode and then going back to library mode (for example, to add tags), all my edits are "gone". And by all edits I mean everything, also cropping etc. and not only color. I can only see the edits when I go back to develop mode, but not in the previews nor in library mode. This makes it hard to work with the library and its functions (e.g. tags) at all.

I noticed that this happens with some, but not with all photos, and especially (although unfortunately not exclusively) with photos where I only cropped or aligned the picture and did not do any further edits!

Anyone else had the same problem and came up with a solution?

Consider recreating the Library preview, perhaps corrupt.

I recently developed the following problem in Lightroom:

Images I have edited do not show edit changes in the Library module. If I go to the Develop module the changes are there, but disappear when I return to Library.

I found a discussion on this issue on this forum from a few years ago:

Sadly, none of the suggestions given have worked for me. Here is what I have done so far:

Uninstalled and reinstalled Lightroom
Deleted Preferences
Switched to 1:1 previews and back to standard previews
Updated my GPU driver from NVIDIA

System information:

Lightroom version 14.3.1

Camera Raw 17.3.1

Windows 11, computer is about 5 years old.

This issue has me dead in the water in terms of displaying images, other than what was captured in camera. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Some more troubleshooting steps that might help:

1. Do the LR menu command Help > System Info and copy/paste the entire contents here so we can see exactly which versions of hardware and software LR thinks you're running and important LR options that are set.

2. Force all previews to be rebuilt by deleting the entire preview database:

3. Less likely, but easy to test: See if the display profile is corrupt or incompatible with LR:

LR Library uses different code for displaying thumbnails than Develop, and there have been infrequent but numerous reports over the years that the display profile has caused problems of various sorts in Library.

I've done a search because I'm having the same problem with Lightroom Classic. I'll try the suggested solutions (the possible hard drive failure makes me nervous), thanks.

BTW, I see you have pictures of Córdoba and Sevilla. Perhaps this problem only affects to Spaniards... 🙂

Well, it's not an out of date GPU driver, not a HD faiulure. It's a random behavoir, quite annoying. It's not either a preview problem: previews and edits work properly whenever I open the program, when it is still "fresh". Then, all of a sudden, everything starts to go painfully slow and the preview problem appears (and also erratic keyboard short-cuts). Quitting and restarting seems to solve all, for a while, but it's a great hassle anyway...

@FelipeRF Fotógrafo, do the menu command Help > System Info and verify that you're on LR 11.3 or 11.3.1. They have a bug, affecting many people, where Library thumbnails and previews aren't being updated to match Develop. The only reliable workaround is to roll back to LR 11.2 and wait for LR 11.4.

Thanks a lot, John. I always let Creative Cloud Desktop to update as soon as any new version is released, so, yes, I'm running RL 11.3.1. It looked like a bug, indeed. I'll try to roll back to LR 11.2, I guess that Adobe is aware of this bug and currently working on fixing it...

That would be v388.73 of that GPU driver. At NVIDIA latest is v445.75, Wow, really way out of date.

You should have installed on your PC a NVIDIA Utility, GeForce Experiance, use it to check for and update your GPU driver

Out of date GPU drivers can cause lots of pain in LRC.

Different photo, same problem. I switched the language to English so it's easier to read 🙂 thanks!

Interestingly, I found out that that switching the view from "fit" to "1:1" and then back to "fit" solves the problem. But this can't be the solution for my entire library..

Adobe has done us all a great dis-service with their re-design of the forums to be as useless as possible, and as a result, I cannot blow up your screen captures to any reasonable size where I can read the text and get a more detailed view of the histogram. Thank you, Adobe, it almost seems as if you are not good at handling images.

To Mr (or Ms) xequere — it seems as if the histograms are identical (at least as much as I can determine), do they appear that way to you when you view the screen captures full size?

Anyway, I would try an experiment where you regenerate the previews for a few of these problem images. Use the Library Module menu command Library->Previews->Build Standard previews. If that works, then you probably ought to delete the preview cache and force Lightroom to rebuild all previews.
