No compatible versión 15,0 de Ligthroom  con iMac de 2017. Nos obligan a cambiar el ordenador si queremos la última  actualización?

Solicita sistema operativo Sonoma  pero Apple no actualiza este sistema a los iMac del 2017.

Correct answer dj_paige

LrC 15 will only run on Mac operating systems version 14 (Sonoma) and newer.

@Lleida2700: "Not compatible with Ligthroom version 15.0 with 2017 iMac. Do they force us to change the computer if we want the latest  update? It requests Sonoma  operating system but Apple does not update this system to the 2017 iMacs."

Building on dj_paige's reply:

Blame Apple as much as Adobe. Apple finds it more profitable to force its users to upgrade hardware than continue to support older hardware. Microsoft has a different business model -- it doesn't sell (much) hardware, and it has many corporate customers with older hardware, so Windows continues to support much older PCs.

If you have an 2017 iMac (and not an iMac Pro), then Apple says the latest version of Mac OS that will run on it is Mac OS 13:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/105113

The latest version of LR Classic that will run on Mac OS 13 is LR Classic 14.5.1:

The translation to English of @Lleida2700 's original message uses the word "forced". Furthermore, @johnrellis uses the word "forced" as well.

No one is being forced to do anything here. You have many choices, its up to you which choice you want to move forward with. You may not like any of the choices, that is up to you, but your choices are (not a full list):

  • Do nothing and live with the OS and hardware you have
  • Upgrade your computer to the OS and hardware that LrC requires
  • Find another solution, other software, that will work for you that works on your hardware and OS
  • and probably a lot of other things.

No one is forcing anybody to do anything. The choice is yours.
