Lightroom 4 Help [Problems running LR4 on macOS High Sierra]

Hello!

I currently use Lightroom 4 on my macbook pro. I purchased the actual program and put it on my macbook pro. I did check and I do have the most up to date Lightroom 4.

I had to the recent software on my macbook pro - macOS High Sierra 10.13.2. Every since then, it seems that whenever I open Lightroom 4 and it closes out/crashes. So I am not sure if that has something to do with it?

I can look at my current photos and export them no problem but when I try and import new photos it closes out.  I've received a couple error message.

One error message I cannot remember the other is

"Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4 quit unexpectedly" and then I can either ignore, report, reopen.

Could someone please help as this is part of my lively hood and I need to get my images to my clients.

Thanks!

All right. I upgraded to LR 6. And crash issue appears also. Not every time but it is there. I have just updated to 6.14 and we will see. Launched it just a moment ago and it opened without problem. We will see if it stopped for good.

A lot of users resolve crashing issues by going to the Lightroom preferences preferences, performance tab, and deselecting the graphics processor option. If it doesn't make a difference you can always select that option again

Thank you, I note it down and in case I still keep on having this issue I will do that.

I was restarting LR6 and computer as whole to test. So far it is OK.

I have exactly same problem. When I try to launch LR4 it shows message "An error occurred when attempting to change modules." And when It starts correctly but I connect my camera to USB it crashes instantly.

I use software on MacBook Pro and camera Canon EOS 5D mark II.

Does anyone know what is the issue? Is it a problem with Mac OS High Sierra?

Yes.

New OS, Old program. In the Apple Mac world those 2 things never go together well.

Not even for software written by Apple for Mac computers.

Thank you for this input.

So whether I want or not I am forced to upgrade to any new version. The thing is I do not want Creative Cloud, I do not work online and do not upload into virtual cloud. I know I am old-fashioned. And when I browse Adobe web it all the time reroutes me to Lightroom CC.

Is there anything new which works and does not force me to be in the cloud?

LR 4 is three major versions old. It is not surprising that it does not work correctly on High Sierra.

I am a Windows guy, so we will need to wait for one of the Mac guys to drop in.

I'm also a Windows user, but I found several informations about the compatibility between Lightroom and macOS High Sierra.

Take a look here:
