Lightroom 4 has a 32-bit installer, and cannot be installed on recent Mac operating systems, which require 64-bit installers.

No it doesn't. I've recently successfully installed both Lightroom 4 and Lightroom 5 on my Monterey 12.6 system. The confusion arises because Lightroom has a 32 bit component (which we think is the different activation process that LR6 utilises), thus cannot be installed on a Mac 64 bit OS, so people assume that if LR6 can't be installed then anything earlier also cannot be installed. But that's not the case.

Old Lightroom 4 cannot be de-activated, as there was no activation checking or de-activation checking.

Are you saying the Installation doesn't work? Or are you saying that Lightroom 4 doesn't work? Explain what happens when you try. If there is an error message, please quote the exact complete unedited word-for-word error message.

What version of the Mac OS are you using?
