lightroom 5.7.1 has stopped / lightroom classic

I would be very grateful for help on the following issue.
I have had Lightroom 5.7.1 for many years, and have used it regularly.
The catalogue has about 57000 photos.
This morning on opening the software, it looks as if everything has disappeared.
I attach a screen shot.
it is literally a blank screen inviting me to "import".

I am aware that 5.7.1 is no longer supported, but understood that it was was stand-alone and that I had control.

Is this an abnormal situation (it certainly seems so) ? And if so can I recover 5.7.1 as before ?
If not, my only concern is to be able to have the existing catalogue recognised by whatever new version I need to turn to.

Any help will be most appreciated.

Somehow you have accidentally opened an empty catalog.

Go to File->Open Recent and select each catalog shown there until you find hte catalog you want.

If that doesn't work, use your operating system's search feature to search for all files whose name ends with .LRCAT and open each one found until you find the catalog you want.

If that doesn't work, restore a recent backup of your catalog file.

Thanks very much.

I went to File->Open Catalogue, then located the most recent version.

That worked.

The text size on the panels is now considerably smaller than previously, but that's very minor.

Again thanks.

Opening a different catalog shouldn't affect the font size, but you can change it by going to Edit > Preferences > Interface.
