I am having problems with my LR 5. I've tried downloading it again, but the Serial number I have does not seem to work anymore. It should still work right? Any help is welcome!

    Hi DJ,

Here is the image of all the tools that no longer work, and further below are the instructions I got to try to remedy this. When I use the sliders on my tools, it changes nothing at all on my photos. They stay exactly the same.

Here are the set of instruction I tried to follow, but could not either find how to get to Users?Library?Preferences to delete <<com.adobe.loghtroom5.plist>>

nor could I get the keys to work in the Shortcut method. When I pressed the keys they mention, all my icons quiver, and then it won't let me open Lightroom.

I'm not a Mac user, but there is important information in the instruction box that says "Note:", did you perform that step?

I certainly tried to do that too. I just couldn’t find the info they were asking for. I’ll have to find a local Mac user to see if they can figure it out for me.

Thanks a lot for all your help!

Gcol1234 I am sorry that the serial number is not being accepted for Lightroom 5.  Are you downloading and installing Lighroom 5.7.1 from Download Photoshop Lightroom ?  If so are you using your registered serial number?  For details on how to locate your registered serial number please see Find your serial number Gcol1234.

    Hello Jeff,

Someone from Adobe was able to help me in the end. It seemed very complicated. But my original problem is still there, and that is that not all my tools work anymore. I had upgraded to OSX Sierra, and then read that LR5 was not compatible with it, which is why I thought that by downgrading back to El Capitan, it would work again. But it is still not working. Someone suggested Resetting my preferences to the original ones, to see if that helps, by trashing <com.adobe.lightroom5.plist> but just can’t seem to get to that place where I am supposed to do this. I go to Lightroom, and then Preferences, where I am supposed to find User then Library then Preferences, but when I go in LR Preferences, there is no User to click on to get me to Library and then Preferences. I know it’s me! But I just can’t see it! So frustrated!

    Earlier, I said

Saying "it is still not working" is not much for us to go on

So in response, you tell us "I was having problems" and "I have the same issues". None of this is informative.

We need details. We need you to describe, in great detail, emphasis on detail, exactly what is going on, exactly what problems/issues/not working means.

    Hi DJ,

The problem is that I cannot use some of my tools such as Exposure, Clarity etc, etc. I cannot say more than that, as that is the issue. (I’ve tried to attach a screen shot of the tools I can no longer use). In my last comment I added some attachments, but not sure if they came through on the Forum. To try to solve this someone suggested resetting the Preferences in LR and I cannot seem to be able to do this due to the points I mentioned before.

I hope this clarifies it a bit better.

    Thanks!

    G
