Lightroom 5.7 won't import .MOV files

Hello. I am hoping this forum will come to my rescue once again. I have a movie on my iMac which is labeled: IMG_4364.MOV.  "Get Info" tells me that it is a QuickTime file. Lightroom 5.7 will not import this file saying that "Preview unavailable for this file" and the image is grayed out. When I try to import it I get this error message: "Lightroom cannot read this video file. The codec needed to read it is missing or unavailable".

This image was shot with an iPhone. LR will import import movies shot with my iPhone but I have been able to import some .MOV files shot with my iPad Pro. LR will import photos shot with my Canon Rebel.

This image is stored in iCloud. If I download it to my Download Folder and try to import it into LR I get the result I describe in paragraph one above. If I email myself the image from my iPhone I am able to import it into LR.

Does anyone have an idea of why LR will not import iPhone movies from iCloud?

Thank you for any help with this.

That happens because it is in HEVC codec. Lightroom 5.7.1 is too old to support that. When you email yourself the file, your phone automatically transcodes to H264 which LR 5.7 can read. To avoid this, set your phone to record in most compatible format. You can find this setting in the settings app->Camera->Formats.
