My computer was stolen about a year and a half ago and I am just getting around to reinstalling Lightroom 5 on my computer. I would like to use it, but I keep getting an error message that Lightroom version 5.5 cannot be registered at this time and then Lightroom crashes. I don't know how to fix this, and I can't remember (it's been a long time) since I first started using Lightroom 5) if I registered the product in the first place.
Also - I saw that I needed to download an update - Lightroom 5.7 - but I can't find that download anywhere. Not sure what to do and I don't know what Lightroom CC is and don't want to pay extra for it, I would just like to edit my photos WITHOUT the hassle of the program crashing in the middle.

Prior to LR 6 on-line registration was not required for the activation of Lightroom and was merely an optional service provided by Adobe with which you could have the serial number recorded on the Adobe site together with your Adobe Account data. But a valid serial number / registration key was (and still is) needed to activate it locally. The links on this page,

What is the exact unedited complete word-for-word error message? Exactly what steps do you perform when this error message appears?
What is the version NUMBER of your operating system? (We need the version NUMBER and not words like "latest" or "up-to-date")

Thank you for your response - however I stated that the version I am using is Lightroom 5.5. Because I closed out of the error message and did not take a screen shot, I no longer have the exact message, other than I had a gray pop-up that stated I had failed to register at this time and I could click on the "Try Again" button or "Cancel".

Thank you for your response. I do have the 24 digits in 6 groups of 4. I purchased the software and still have the disk and the information.
