Thank you very much for your help. The linked thread was very helpful and that is how I reinstalled LR 6.14:

1. Updated/install Adobe Creative Cloud (Without this it is not possible!) activated the account and reboot the computer.

2. I dowload the LR-installation file 6.14 via Web-Archive (It is no longer available via the actual Adobe site):

However, everything is up to date. Adobe also has a page for this error message; I have implemented the advice there without success. I then tried it on my Windows 11 PC as a test, which has a very up-to-date system set up. There, too, I get the error message.

What can be the reason for this or how can I fix the error?

Try the procedure outlined in this thread, it might work for Lightroom as well.

https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop-ecosystem-discussions/unable-to-startup-photoshop-cs6-due-t...

Why exactly do you want to reinstall? It rarely fixes anything.

Most Lightroom issues are related to the GPU or a corrupt preferences file.

This is not a bug (LR 6 is totally unsupported), so a moderator will move this thread to Discussions.

3. Install LR 6.14 via the downloaded installation file (registration key is already filled in due to you Creative Cloud data.

You can also use your LR 6 original installation package but you will not be able to update to v6.14 so downloading a installation package for 6.14 via the old Adobe site (via Web Archive) is recommended.

There are several threads on this issue. After you have installed Lightroom 6, it needs to activate. The activation servers are offline however. That is why you get this error and as far as I know there is nothing you can do about it.

It seems there is no special activation server. The installation package seems to get your registration data via Adobe Creative Cloud.

There is (or was), but I think you were lucky that you wanted to reinstall Lightroom, not install it on a new computer. Because you reinstalled it, you did not have to activate again.

Is there a difference between activating it on a new computer or not? Even in my case the system has asked for the registration key (and therefore seemed to use my data from Adobe Cloud).

Activation is not the same as a registration key. Before Lightroom 6, you only needed a key. Lightroom 6 introduced activation on top of that key.
