Lightroom 6.10.1 Standalone

I have a CC Photography Plan on two desktops and LR 6.10.1 on two laptops.   I am being offered an UPDATE from Lightroom 6.10.1 standalone to Lightroom Classic on the laptop?

Certainly Lightrroom v6 has been critically ill for some time (both standalone and CC Plan) so I believe we have all been awaiting a fix rather than a sophisticated marketting exercise.

Is this a non-CC Plan update or a disguised change to Lightroom Classic and a CC Plan?  The latter is commonly called an UPGRADE as opposed to an UPDATE.

Does anyone know the answers and can represent ADOBE in answering this?

In anticipation ... Thanks

    Hi All,

Lightroom 6.13 has been released and should address this issue.  Please update your Lightroom to the latest version and let us know if you continue to see the issue. Thank you for your patience.

Please refer Lightroom 6.13 now available

    Thanks,

Update or Upgrade call it whatever but the result is the same - you'll be moving to Lightroom Classic subscription plan.

FWIW, and I don't have the details, 6.13 will shortly be available. Below text is from the Lightroom Blog

    Lightroom 6

Lightroom 6 is the last standalone version of Lightroom that can be purchased outside of a Creative Cloud membership.  There will not be a Lightroom 7 perpetual offering.   Lightroom 6 will remain for sale for an undetermined amount of time, but will no longer be updated with camera support or bug fixes after the end of 2017.  Lightroom 6.13 with support for the Nikon D850 will be released on October 26, 2017.

It is hardly surprising that neither the ADOBE flunkies or the ADOBE staff are terrified to answer this post in case the Great ADOBE Corporate Machine is dis-pleasured by the response.  Even some of the lowest of the low (corporately speaking) Geoff the Kiwi is steering clear.  Grow some for Gods sake!

What do you expect? This is a user to user forum. The Adobe representatives usually don't answer on this forum. The Lightroom Classic offering is NOT an update for the non-CC Lightroom. It is my understanding (I'm not an Adobe representative) that there will be a Lightroom 6.13 update later this month that will have support for some additional cameras. Adobe has not been clear about Lightroom Classic and that "NEW" Lightroom CC that was released this last week. These are both NEW subscription only releases. Lightroom Classic is the Lightroom that CC subscribers have been accustomed to with a couple of new features and support for new cameras. The new Lightroom CC is primarily a web-based concept 1.0 release of where Adobe thinks Lightroom should be going in the future which is going to emphasize storing all images in the cloud so that all of your work can be accessible at any time, anywhere, on any computer, or any mobile device, as well as any computer. Sorry that this isn't from an Adobe representative. But it will have to do until someone else can give you a more "official" answer.
