Question

Lightroom 6.9 disc won't install on Windows 10

I have a bundled copy of LR 6.9 (keyless activation ) that came with the computer purchased in Great Britian.  Disk had loaded before and worked fine.  Now it won't install.  Tested on multiple computers.

Based on the disk printing and packaging, I am assuming that this is a legitimate copy of LR.

Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Bob

I would hope, for you, that it is a legitimate copy, but-

From your photo of the disk I strongly have my doubts, sorry!

My opinions-

1) It has always been very easy to print to CD/DVD disks with home inkjet printers and copied images (fakes easy to print).

2) Odd that the disk does not have both Windows and Mac versions of the install.

3) Several bits of information usually showing on Adobe genuine DVDs are missing.

4) The disk sleeve has a simple sticker- anyone could print, and you do not have a Serial Number.

5) With Version 6 most purchases were by a digital download, and v6.9 'update' would have been a digital download- not sold on disk?

6) From Version 6, Lightroom had to be Activated by internet connection to an Adobe account. "Keyless activation" not possible.

I suspect your disk is an "ISO Disk Image" that would be specific to your original computer system, and not possible to do a fresh install on a new system.

I attach some screen-clips of interest only- I still have Lr-3 & 4 on DVD- Both with Serial Number Stickers on box or case.

And LOL- I found my Invoice for a Lightroom-3 purchase-  AU$429  - What a bargain we get now with the Photography plan!!

Regards. My System: Windows-11, Lightroom-Classic 15.0, Photoshop 27.0, ACR 18.0, Lightroom 9.0, Lr-iOS 10.4.0, Bridge 16.0 .

I have never heard of Lightroom supplied as "Bundled" software- "keyless activation".

(Could be a non-genuine copied version? can we see a scan/photo of the pack?)

TBMK- Every Lightroom Install since Version-1 requires a Serial Number Key (except Subscription versions). Either printed on CD box/sleeve or supplied by Adobe in response to a 'Redemption Code' or a purchase.

Redemption codes can only be used once to obtain a Serial Number, but if supplied by Adobe this would be recorded in your Adobe Account. https://account.adobe.com/

Lightroom v6 installs fine on a Windows-10 (or Windows-7 SP1) system. v6 requires a 64-bit system! 32bit installers will work (different to Mac Catalina!)

https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/system-requirements/earlier-versions.html

So- Why it will not install is a mystery- needs more investigation.

See previous posting for the scan of the disc and envelope.   As I had mentioned, the disc worked just fine on the same computer until I had a disc crash and had to reinstall.  Tried the disc on a different Windows 10 computer and it failed to load there.

If this is a fake, someone went to a lot of time and trouble creating it.

Been following this issue with other users. Apparently the installer for Lightroom 6 is a 32-bit application, and Windows 10 is 64-bit only and won't run the installer for Lightroom 6. Lightroom 6 is not in production anymore, not being updated nor supported by Adobe anymore. From the reading I have done, I don't know that there is a solution to your problem. If there is, I hope someone else knows what it is.

I'm sure it has problems, and it may not be incompatible. HOWEVER, Windows 10 can run 32-bit apps just fine. I realise this doesn't help the original poster. "Keyless activation" is a strange thing, though. There are many ways to distribute software, but this description is most often seen on dodgy software, and I never heard of Adobe doing it.  This discussion seems to hold to that idea: https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2648319
