I have just bought and installed a stand alone version of lightroom 6 can anyone tell me which version of photoshop elements will give me full compatibility i.e. allow me to use the edit in function.

I am currently using photoshop elements 11 which is fine but would like to upgrade to a more modern version.

If you are just going to use Photoshop Elements to further edit the photos you have imported into Lightroom, any version of Photoshop Elements will work. If you want to upgrade a PSE catalog to Lightroom (doesn't sound like this is what you are asking) then I don't really know.

Yes you are correct I just want to export to elements with the lightroom adjustment to do any final editing, but I want to be able to use the ctrl e shortcut to open the file in elements and not have to save the file somewhere and then open it in elements.

If you're talking about raw images and compatibility with Camera Raw, then you would want the latest version of Photoshop Elements and the most current version of Camera Raw. Then it won't matter from this point forward because as long as you have Lightroom 6 .14 installed that is the final update for Lightroom 6. Just make sure you've installed all the updates for Lightroom 6, and get the latest Photoshop Elements and ensure that you have the latest Camera Raw. From this point onward any updates really won't matter.
