Lightroom 6 not importing the images from the card! Help!!!

"The following files were not imported because their paths contain backlashes."

I purchased new cards and tried them out this morning.

No error message with the new cards but Lightroom 6 refuses to import the images still!

I generally recommend copying the photo files from the card to a folder on the desktop, removing the card. Then starting lightroom and importing from the folder. Have you tried that? 

And was this problem also with your previous cards?

If the photos do indeed have unsupported file name syntax, look to your camera, see if you edited the default file name to whatever is fouling things up.

    For a diagnostic step/workaround

     

    Using your OS file management (Finder) copy the photos from the SD card to the folder you would be importing them into.

     

    Look at the file names, rename them if the offending syntax exists

     

    Start Lightroom , bring up the Import dialog, try to ADD the photos to your catalog

    We are sorry about the experience with Lightroom 6.

     

    Would you mind going to the Help menu in Lightroom, then System info and sharing the information with us here? Have you tried moving the images from the memory cards to the desktop or any other folder on the computer to check if you are able to import the images from that location?

     

    If you have connect the memory card to the computer using a card reader, you can try changing the card reader as well to check if that helps.

     

    You can also try resetting the preferences of Lightroom using the steps mentioned in the link below.

    Note: Please backup your presets, plug-ins, etc. before resetting the preferences.

    Im using the card reader which us part of my macbook pro.

     

    I have the same lightroom 6 (from a cd) on my imac - having the same issue.
