Lightroom 6 - serial number maximum allowed computers

When I open Lightroom 6 on PC (Win10) I get this message:

The serial number XXXXXX is already in use by the maximum allowed computers.

You need to deactivate another computer within 5 days to use this product.

First thing I went in my Adobe acount to see what other devices are activated, thinking that maybe hardware changes in my PC counted as different computers. But no, I have no activated devices - zero.

Please help me, I am stuck!

Secondary question: Why do I have a countdown timer untill when I NEED to deactivate another computer? What happens after that?

You can now only RESET ACTIVATIONS by sending a Private message to Carissa Massongill (Adobe Staff Member). See this link for a Correct Answer-

Activation or Deactivation versions of Lightroom

And download while you still can!

That link to suggest messaging Carissa was in May 2022.!  (I would not expect phishing if I clicked on a legitimate @name to send a message,)

However, WIth recent changes (1/1/2024 IIRC) no Adobe staff can reset activations. The Activation Server is not available to anyone, including staff.

If you have reached your maximum of two activations, you can only activate a third instance by De-activating the others (one or two) from a working version of Lr6.

IMO Lightroom v6 (Perpetual) is 'Dead'. There are so many 'brick walls' when trying to get v6 working.

The Photography Plan 20GB subscription is now the only way forward. @ BUY PHOTOGRAPHY PLANS

I have never regretted getting the whole package (LrC, Ps, LrD, LrM, etc, with all upgrades) for the cost of a large Hamburger once a month.

Yes I realized it was not form her account, but from another account with a similar sounding name. I nearly got picked off.

I would not have paid for the perpetual if was actually paying for it perpetually. It's great to hear you had no regrets though. P.S. As noted, I have no activations and even de-activating my only activation 2 days ago did not register as a deactivation (but instead caused me to lose access to the software). On a totally separate note, still curious why Adobe would treat a hardware change as an activation (if I install a radio in my car, and change a tire, it does not mean I now have 2 radios?)
