Lightroom catalog update

The catalog updates messed up all my catalogs! It completely deleted some photos whereas others are marked as " not found " by Lightroom. Is there any way to fix this without manually importing every single photo into a new catalog?

It is possible that the wrong catalog file was upgraded, as the upgrade process will not delete photos or mark them not found (unless of course they were not found before the catalog upgrade).

Please use your operating system's search feature and search all folders on all disks for files whose name ends with .LRCAT and then open/upgrade each one until you find the catalog you want.

That is not possible as I am only using one catalog. My files are at the same place they have always been.

I see how you would think that's conflicting informartion so let me clarify. I have been actively using one catalog that was originally updated and the photos went missing. Ofcourse I have older catalogs that I have not been using for over a year, some are even older. After updating the catalog I have been using and seeing it was messed up, I have tried updating older catalogs to see what happens and the result was the same.

The only solution I have found was making a new catalog and importing all my files however that didn't import flags, ratings or color flags (which makes sense). The files are all there. They just were not showing up after the update. That's the reason I assumed the problem is in the update, not in me misplacing my files. That clearly cannot be the problem as they were all correctly imported and all showed up after I imported them into a new catalog. This seemed to be the fastest way to have them all back however the way they were organised based on color, flags and ratings is gone which causes a problem.

This whole description still indicates that perhaps LrC upgraded the wrong catalog file, as you admit there are several catalog files on your hard disk(s). Again, I suggest you do the search as I described.

As far as the images being "not found" in all the catalogs that you have opened so far, this indicates that the photos (or folders that contain them) indeed were moved/renamed, and you should use the fix for that, which is not re-importing into a new catalog (which you see doesn't really fix anything).
