Lightroom CC Classic crashes during import

Please Help:

I just upgraded to Lightroom CC Classic from Version 4. During the import of files, the program crashes at random times. I normally download files from two different cameras (1DX and 1DX MK II) to a folder on my desktop and then import that folder to LR.

I have also upgraded the Mac OS as well to High Sierra.

I've had several crashes and sent one crash report to adobe with my e-mail and a detailed explanation of what I was doing.

    Adobe has recently pushed out the LR 7.1 release which in my case at any rate has solved the problem of crashes during import.  It's working on both of my Macs now.  It did create a different problem of crashes and stalls during the export of video files in the Slideshow Module....but that's a different problem.  Still, I am very happy that the import problem has been fixed - at least in my case.  Check your LR version and make sure you have upgraded to 7.1 if you are having the import crash problem!!!

    Good that you aren't crashing on import anymore. Not sure what the issue is with exporting from slide show module. Please start a new thread when you next encounter the issue. Especially if you can recreate it on demand. Have a great rest of the weekend!

    I just upgraded to LR Classic and am experiencing the same thing.  Copy and Import never finishes. It sits at about 55% and does nothing.

    Are you opening the app from the dock? Can you try opening from the Creative Cloud Manager at the top of the screen? If you open from the Creative Cloud Manager do you have two icons now in the dock?

    Upgraded to Lightroom CC Classic and have been dealing with the app crashing constantly on import of RAW files into the catalog. Going through the posts to this thread from November (!!!) and it’s a shame that Adobe STILL has not addressed this bug that we’re all dealing with. Had absolutely ZERO issues with crashes until the update to Lightroom “Classic”. Clearly something is wrong if thousands of people across disperate forums are all reporting the same exact issue. This is unacceptable.

    I'm having the same issue. I'm still using OS X El Capitan (10.11.6) iMac desktop. LR crashes if I try to import more than 24 or so RAW files at a time. I thought there was an improvement right after the upgrade; now back to the same problem.

    I'm having the same issue, on both my home Macbook Pro and Mac Mini at work. Lightroom crashes on import and export (more on import). Super insanely frustrating. Did the most recent update in hopes it would fix said problem, but it just crashed twice more....heavy sigh. So there doesn't seem to be an actual/logical solution at this point?

    Hi Lana - Are you also running High Sierra?

    Same problem here. Has anyone been able to work around this?

    I am not able to import photos from a recent shoot and I really need to process and deliver this material.

    Very frustrated as well.

    Have you downloaded the latest build?

    I reported this bug to adobe: support

    They fixed the the bug after a couple of days, and after asking my feedback.

    The quick and adequate reaction of the adobe people surprised me.

    I hope that this fix is also the right one for your system.

    Mine is running now like it has to.

    My system:

    • macOS High Sierra 10.13.1
    • Mac Mini 2,3Ghz Intel Core i7
    • 8 Gb 1600 MHz DDR3

    I have:

    • downloaded the latest build;
    • signed out of CC, restarted the computer, signed back in;
    • deleted all previews of my catalogue;
    • changed hard drives;
    • closed all other apps while I do it;
    • copied the original files to my HD in case it was a problem with the CF card and tried importing them from that folder instead;
    • created a new catalogue;

    and none of that worked, so I contacted support.

    Unfortunately, I received only a series of poorly translated pre-written evasive responses.

    (I'm in Brazil, and I can tell they were automatically translated from English)

    My workaround here has been to:

    • Manually copy the files to the folder.
    • Add them to the catalog (neither copying nor moving, just adding in place)
    • Rename them in place through Library > Rename
    • Move them using the catalog Library, if needed.

    Unfortunately Support's response was something like "Sorry, but in this new update you will have to manage it like that". She pretty much said the "Copy" feature is no longer working although it is still available in the program.

    Same problem here. It is frustrating to pay for a monthly service that just seems to create new bugs with every update.
