Lightroom Classic 13.2 is not importing GPS Location Data. original files contain GPS coordinates. strangely panorama shots taken with the same phone camera (Huawei p50pro) imports the GPS coordinates correctly. i am importing the files by synchronizing the target folder. all import settings are set to "metadata is set to none in the "apply during import panel.i am running the latest Mac software Sonoma 14.4. i have tried Read Metadata from File' to force Lightroom to pull GPS data from the original files, but it didn't work. i have also tried synchronizing the folder again after importing them into Lightroom. I have also tried importing the images directly through the import option below the navigator pane. Still, the same result-no gps coordinates How can I fix this issue?

note: I have viewed the images in Adobe Bridge with the same result. the panorama shot has the GPS coordinates but not the normal jpg.

note 2. all location tags are on on my Huawei P50pro in all modes, also the general GPS settings on the phone

note 3 exported dng images from my phone have no gps coordinates when I look at them on my desktop info see attachment

is it a bug in the software?

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

Did you shoot RAW or JPEG?

On-line info for that phone is lacking, what formats does it save photos to?

Your DNG is stripped from its metadata somehow. When I open it in EXIF Editor, I don't see anything except some very basic info like the Camera make and model. See screenshots of your DNG and a DNG shot with my iPhone XR. Your jpg images do have the same info as my iPhone image.

i wonder how i can change that? when i imported a jpg from my sons iPhone into lightroom the GPS coodinates copied correct, but not from the images from my huawei p 50 pro, despite both jpg images contain GPS data under command I (file info). weird. but the shots taken in panorama mode copy the GPS correct? any suggestions would be terrific! and yes the GPS coordinates from dng images have the GPS coordinates blank in file info. but the jpg's are being stripped by lightroom for some reason

Like I said: your jpeg images do have all metadata that my phone images have. If Lightroom strips that on export, then you did not select the option to include all metadata in the export dialog.

It's not a problem of exporting. It's a problem of importing. The images into Lightroom.  data of GPS does not appear in Lightroom on the images from my Huawei P. 50 pro (except for panorama shots).

I'll try what happens when I import the jpeg you posted in Dropbox. I am on the road right now, so I'll do that later.

I have tried, and indeed the GPS coordinates of the JPG image do not import into Lightroom! I have no idea why, because I can't see anything fundamentally different between your JPG image and an iPhone DNG, except that my iPhone image also shows a real altitude and the direction. That should not stop Lightroom from showing the data that are present, however.

thanks for testing this. it is really weird. the strange thing also is that the panorama jpgs from the same phone camera import correctly into LR with all coordinates!
