Lightroom Classic 13.2 is not importing GPS Location Data

Lightroom Classic 13.2 is not importing GPS Location Data. original files contain GPS coordinates. strangely panorama shots taken with the same phone camera (Huawei p50pro) imports the GPS coordinates correctly. i am importing the files by synchronizing the target folder. all import settings are set to "metadata is set to none in the "apply during import panel.i am running the latest Mac software Sonoma 14.4. i have tried Read Metadata from File' to force Lightroom to pull GPS data from the original files, but it didn't work. i have also tried synchronizing the folder again after importing them into Lightroom. I have also tried importing the images directly through the import option below the navigator pane. Still, the same result-no gps coordinates How can I fix this issue?

note: I have viewed the images in Adobe Bridge with the same result. the panorama shot has the GPS coordinates but not the normal jpg.

note 2. all location tags are on on my Huawei P50pro in all modes, also the general GPS settings on the phone

note 3 exported dng images from my phone have no gps coordinates when I look at them on my desktop info see attachment

is it a bug in the software?

Correct answer Herb A. LeRoy

I have experienced the same problem.

I shoot raw with my D850 Nikon which has a GPS unit attached.  Bridge shows that the gps info is embedded in the raw file.  When the raw files are then imported into Lightroom Classic, with the import metadata preset showing gps data to be included, the data does not appear.  The best, and only workaround I have found is to first import the raw (in this case .NEF ) files.  The gps data will still fail to show up in the metadata.  However, if one right clicks on the image(s) and selects "Metadata>Read Metadata from File(s)", the gps coordinates are retrieved and entered into the metadata.  If you so choose at that point, to convert the raw file(s) into DNG format, the gps info is preservered.  This process of retreval and conversion can, of course, be done by batch -process as well.

Update:  I found the import preset had check marks on the GPS buttons which, instead of loading the information in fact it cleared it on import.  Once check marks were removed and the associated lines left blank, gps info was included when photos were converted to DNG on import.

Did you shoot RAW or JPEG?

On-line info for that phone is lacking, what formats does it save photos to?

Hello... it would be helpful for some of us to look at the files on our systems. Can you Dropbox or similar some dsamples of original files and link here please?

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
