Question

Lightroom Classic 13.X very slow on M1 Pro and Sonoma 14.5

I am running LRC 13.3.1 but all the 13.X version are really slow to export (3-4X slower) compared to 12.X on the same pics/system/setting. i am running a Macbook pro M1 Pro, on Sonoma 14.5

any solution?  actually fujifilm X-H2 Raf to jpg take around 3 seconds, while before was less than 1 second to export, and thats really problematic when exporting a studio session with 600/1000 pics....

going back to 12.X is not an option since i have updated the main catalog and already used AI Erase on several photos.

thanks

Same problem here, to the point of being an impediment for me to work with the app....

Have you tried resetting your preferences?
Reinstalling the app will not reset your preferences, that has to be handled separately.

Yes, i tried, and didn't solve.

export times are not constant, but to export 10 untouched X-H2 RAF take 15s, to export 10 canon R5 RAW take a little less, around 13s, but  both are quite slow.

I replied to your earlier post with a request that you post a copy of Systerm Info. The information contained in same is often very helpful when trying to diagnose possible reasons for LrC issues. Again, I ask you to post your System Info.

In the meantime, check that your GPU is providing full acceleration. This is easy to check in the LrC Peformance tab. I've attached a copy of mine showing what you should be seeing (ignore the computer type). If it doesn't show 'Your system automatically supports full acceleration' or 'Full graphics acceleration is enabled', then it may be that the GPU has failed the self test at some point and needs to be reset. If the self test has failed or you've selected teh wrong option, then this may explain why your exports are taking longer than they did in LrC 12.x

We've cross posted.

You System Info indicates that the GPU setting has been configured correctly, but it would still be helpful to know whether you're getting full acceleration as I described above.

Sure, full Graphics Acceleratin is enabled. i even tried both, Auto setting and Custom setting enabling all, with "Use GPU for export"

so you tested 12.X and 13.X and you are getting same or similar export speed?

I hadn't tested it since 13.0 was released, but don't recall it being much different to LrC 12.X.

Above being said, I compared the two versions this morning. Using a Mac Studio M1 Ultra with 64GB of memory I exported 1000 Canon EOS R5 images as follows.

LrC 12.5.1

Unedited JPEG at Full Size, 70% Quality, Standard Sharpening = 3 minutes 30 seconds

Edited JPEG (Basic Panel edits) at Full Size, 70% Quality, Standard Sharpening = 8 minutes 10 seconds

LrC 13.3.1

Unedited JPEG at Full Size, 70% Quality, Standard Sharpening = 3 minutes 25 seconds

Edited JPEG (Basic Panel edits) at Full Size, 70% Quality, Standard Sharpening = 5 minutes 30 seconds

Times are average of 3 test runs.
