Lightroom Classic 8.3.1 - Import Issue on Windows Os

Hi all, new to the forum so please bear with me....

I'm using Lightroom version 8.3.1 Classic (but this happened in previous versions also)

Scenario:

Copy folder of images from camera to windows desktop

Drag and drop folder into the location of all my images which is

C:\Photos\My Pictures\ New folder

Open Lightroom

Select Import photos and videos

Scroll down folder list until I get to C:\Photos\My Pictures\ New folder

Select it

Check ADD at top of screen is selected and all images are ticked then select Import

Images import and show OK but folder disappears from the file tree on LHS and appears at the top as C:\New Folder

If I drag the folder and drop it onto the \My Pictures branch, I get an error saying "a folder of that name already exists".

I then have to move the folder in windows, rediscover it in the new location within Lightroom and then drag and drop it back into \My Pictures within the Lightroom tree.

Whats going on?

Any help, advice or ideas/tips appreciated, it's driving me crazy !!

Thanks in advance

Had a look at that, there are not duplicate (albeit with lowercase) folders, also this seems more akin to MAC and I'm Windows.

    One thing of note:

If I select the new folder in lightroom that is showing as in the root (C:\new folder) abd right click and select show in windows explorer, it shows it as C:\Photos\My Pictures\ New folder in windows explorer!

So it knows where it is, it seems its just LR getting confused.

As I said, even if this is not the Capitalization Problem, the method described ought to allow you to fix this folder issue.

This may be the "Capitalization Bug" aka "Capitalization Problem", and even if it isn't a capitalizatoin problem, I think the instructions here will solve the problem.

The message would seem to indicate that you already have a folder within Pictures that is named New Folder. My suggestion would be that you choose a destination within the Pictures folder as your import destination and name it appropriately to begin with. Then it wouldn't be necessary to move the folder after import.

Correct, it does.  Its the folder I imported so using "ADD" should save in current location.

    Hi there,

That does not sound like a typical experience, let's make it right.

Could you please share some screenshots? As that would be helpful for us to troubleshoot further.
