Lightroom Classic and external SSD

Hi, I'm new to using the community and I know this has probably been asked a million times but I haven't been able to find anything that makes me feel comfortable that I can make a change without having issues, as I wouldn't say I am the most tech savvy person in the world. My current setup with Lightroom Classic has everything stored on the internal hard drive, which isn't good but up until maybe 6 months ago it wasn't that big of a deal for me if I were to encounter an issue and lose those files. However, I want to change that and set up a more secure system for storage along with my workflow. From what I have been able to find out, it seems that the best option would be to move my photo library to an SSD while leaving the LrC catalog on the internal hard drive. The library containing my DNG files is what is taking up the most space on the hard drive. Can someone please point me in the right direction for the easiest way to move those files to the SSD and making sure they stay linked to the LrC catalog? Is there anything in particular that I need to look out for to make sure that I don't have any issues? Thanks in advance!

I think most have photos on a different drive than the catalog, although you mention "secure" and "workflow", and putting photos on an external hard disk (doesn't have to be an SSD) has nothing to do with "secure" or "workflow". It is usually due to space considerations.

To answer your other question, please read https://www.lightroomqueen.com/move-photos-another-hard-drive-leaving-catalog/ I strongly recommend option 2.
