Lightroom Classic - Aperture import problems

I started using LR in 2015. Prior to that I used Aperture. I decided to finally work on the import of the older images year by year, and have successfully imported 2001 through mid 2008. I export images from a subset of time to a new Aperture library and import them into Lightroom classic.

My second half 2008 image import stalled at 77% complete. I am using the Adobe plug-in. Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.1. This batch has 2,642 photos.

I read in another question about reinstalling LR 2015 and importing Aperture images into that. I tried that, but LR 2015 won't open my newer catalog, which I have changed considerably since I upgraded in October.

Is there any solution other than deleting 2008 and trying again?

Thanks.

Have you successfully imported other Aperture libraries into LR Classic? If so, there's no point reinstalling LR2015 or using it like this.

You could try again. One thing to do is see if you can identify the image(s) where the stall is happening. See if there is anything unusual about it/them. You could then import (say) the first 76% as one subset, and the final 23% as another, and the problem 1% could be imported the normal way.

Yes - I've successfully imported 7 1/2 years worth, in batches. I had a problem with 2007, but ended up redoing it as the stall was at 50% and it wasn't as many photos as I'm doing in this batch. I reimported them into "LightroomMasters" instead of "Lightroom Photos" and all went OK. I'll move them over into LightroomPhotos. The first half of 2008 imported OK as well.

Unfortunately the stall doesn't seem to happen at a particular point in time - some of the photos in each month come over, but some don't.  In this batch I've got quite a few photos taken by others on two trips we took, so the format of those photos may be what's causing the problem.

I also need to go in and delete a bunch of non-keepers, but I think that process is easier in LR, so my plan was to just import them all and then delete the duds in LR. I think I will go back to the 2008 pix in Aperture, delete some, re-export the library and try again, unless another solution presents itself.

Thanks - I'll do some investigation and try to figure out what imported and what didn't and what might be the source of the problem. Right now LR is just stalled - I was hoping it might start importing again...

I'm not sure what you mean about importing them directly?

I just mean LR's regular File > Import Photos and Video command to bring in the difficult images. I would not be surprised if this worked for them, even if the plugin method had stalled on them.
