Lightroom Classic catalog will not backup on macOS Mojave

Lightroom 8.4.1 running on MacOS Mojave. When exiting catalog backup freezes and app has to be force quit. Trying to optimize when opening LR also freezes app. Now import will work very infrquently and has to be resterted several times to work.

Is there any way to test and fix catalog problems? I think that is probably where the problem is but have no way of telling.

    1. Please verify that you are still running OS Mojave and not Catalina.

    2. Check the hard drive you are storing the backup on for user rights.

    Hi there,

Would you mind sharing more information on if the catalog is stored on the computers internal storage or an external drive? Also, is how big is the catalog (approximately how many images)?

You can try following the steps mentioned in the below mentioned link to check if it makes a difference in the performance and you can try to create a new test catalog as well to check if the new catalog works the same.
